“When we decided, two years ago, to develop the platform www.scrisoripentrumoscraciun.ro, our intention was to provide NGOs and companies with a free tool for managing letters sent to Santa Claus so that the gifts reach as many children as possible living in disadvantaged communities of Romania. This year, given the context in which we find ourselves, the platform has proven its usefulness beyond what we could have foreseen and we want to thank all those who helped us fulfill the wishes of these children,” said Angela Galeța, director of the Vodafone Romania Foundation.
For the Vodafone employees, this is the 11th consecutive year of involvement in the project, which has become a tradition of the winter holidays. Our colleagues responded to 524 letters and bought gifts for as many children. Like every year, the elves worked in Santa’s workshop where, for two weeks, they checked and sorted the gifts, labeled them and prepared them for shipment making sure they would reach their final destinations on time.
The Letters to Santa program was launched in 2010, initially, for children benefiting from the projects carried out by the Vodafone Romania Foundation and with the participation of Vodafone employees who wanted to bring joy to some children, for Christmas. In 2016, the circle of donors expanded by encouraging employees of other companies to join the project and become Santa Claus for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. The https://scrisoripentrumoscraciun.ro/ platform represents a new extension of this program, both in terms of the number of beneficiaries and the number of donors.
