Project objective:

The renovation and creation of an environment conducive to medical care in eight important Romanian blood transfusion centres, serving a third of the total donors in the country.

Problem:

Transfusion centres are an important element of the transfusion system. Turning them into modern facilities, fitted with equipment in line with European standards, which provide donors both with conditions conducive to the performance of medical care and with a welcoming and warm space motivating them to come back, is a priority for us.

Solution:

The renovation, fitting and modernization of the donor circuit from 8 national transfusion centres: Bucharest, Buzău, Cluj Napoca, Giurgiu, Iași, Slatina, Suceava and Târgu Jiu.

Results:

The Vodafone Romania Foundation renovated, through the ”A chance for life” project, a total area of 15,145 square meters, in the blood transfusion centres from Bucharest, Buzău, Cluj, Giurgiu, Iași, Slatina, Suceava and Târgu Jiu.

Annually, more than 127,000 donors will benefit from the new conditions in the 8 renovated centres.
As part of the renovation project, besides the rehabilitation of premises, 30 blood collection chairs, one air conditioning unit for the blood laboratory, four centrifuges, two blood collection mixers, six blood storage refrigerators and freezers were also purchased. Furthermore, four of the eight centres were provided with new furniture.
