Over 1,000 free or discounted dental services for patients in need

Bucharest, October 12th, 2020 – Regina Maria Social Innovation Foundation provided, between July and September 2020, over 1,000 complete dental services, free or at discounted prices, at the two social clinics managed by the Foundation. The prevention and treatment of dental problems for patients who lack medical insurance and have low or no income at all have been financially supported by Vodafone Romania Foundation with a budget of RON 72,000.

In the context of the global pandemic, over 1,000 social patients of Baba Novac Social Clinic and Sala Palatului Clinic have been deprived of indispensable dental services, the alternatives for low-income patients being deficient both in Bucharest and at country level. The financial support granted by Vodafone Romania Foundation has helped 308 no-income patients and 185 low-income patients to resume their treatments in safe conditions and to benefit from high quality dental services, from basic procedures to surgery, prosthetics and orthodontics.

Angela Galeța, Manager of Vodafone Romania Foundation: ‘Difficult situations, such as this pandemic, especially affect the vulnerable categories. Our foundations are collaborating for the second time to support patients from disadvantaged backgrounds, offering them integrated, high quality and accessible medical services as an alternative to both the public and the private healthcare systems.’

Cristiana Mateoiu, Executive Director of Regina Maria Social Innovation Foundation: ‘There are tens of thousands of people in Bucharest who have no income and no health insurance and can barely afford any medical services, much less dental ones. Furthermore, during this period, the costs incurred by additional mandatory protection measures for patients and doctors have far surpassed our financing capabilities, this is why we are extremely grateful to our partners who choose to support us when we need it the most and with whom we manage to serve as many patients in need as possible.’

Baba Novac Social Clinic was established 10 years ago, from the desire to support disadvantaged families through sustainable medical and educational projects and is destined exclusively to people with no income and no medical insurance, while Sala Palatului Clinic, a social-medical entrepreneurship project, offers medical services at discounted prices for low-income people, based on the contributions of those who pay full price for the consultations and treatments they receive at the clinic.

The clinics have 5 dental offices and their own radiology center, and 20 dentists cover a wide variety of dental services, such as: emergency treatment of dentoalveolar injuries, cavity treatment, scaling, endodontics, periodontics, pedodontics, surgery, prosthetics and orthodontics, offering the thousands of patients who walked into the clinics the chance to lead a normal life.
